Gifted vs hard work
It comes down to seperate beliefs from a psychological stand point. Whether you are a believer in -Nature- over -Nurture-, whether you believe in Spearmans G factor, or in Gardners idea of multiple intelligence; in truth and honesty nothing has been compleltly proven, most everything involving intelligence is still speculation and areas of belief. Whether you believe in one area or another is a lot of what psychology comes down to and this is a perfect example.
One of the statments is the sect that one has chosen to believe in and it is his choice so I wont belittle it, the only gripe I have is that it gives no background to this beliefs. No base. Just dont state what you think and don't sa why you think it.
I personally believe that some people are ineherintly skilled at one thing and I would lean more to the teachings of Gardner, who says that there are multiple intelligences (emotional, analytical, verbal etc.) and that a person can be skilled at one or all of these different areas naturally, and that if you are skilled in one, you will have more trouble perfecting another. (If you are emotionally intelligent then you will have a harder time perfecting your opposite element, Analytical)
Like most things in life, it isn't -cut and dry- and isn't quite as obvious as it seems...
To help prove that people are naturally gifted look at people such as Leonardo Da Vinci, who had accomplished many of his greatest inventions by the age of 12. It's hard to think he accomplished that through hard work and long hours of practice. By the age of 12??, it seems rather unlikely.
This is a great example of a gifted one who lack in other elements of life. You could be genious analytically but lacked in emotional intelligence showing by an inability to cope with childhood trauma, failure at relationships, etcetera. With hard work one can grow to be more emotionally intelligent, and that is a good example of intelligence theories at work.
Find your passions and pursue them.
